Montmartre

Montmartre  is a beautiful black China original drawing on ivory-colored paper, made by the Swedish illustrator and reporter  Adolf Reinhold Hallman  around the 40s. The state of preservation is excellent, except for a usual yellowing of the paper at the edge of the sheet, a light fold, some dust, and a little yellow stain on the lower right corner. These defects do not affect the image.

On the back, the blueink stamp " Made in Italy by Adolf Hallman, 54 Via Margutta Roma " on the lower right corner of the sheet. Including a white cardboard passepartout, cm 34 x 49.

On the back and on the higher margin, an autograph note in blue ink: " La grande cancan danseuse Jane Avril - Jules Pascin - Chas Laborde - Francis Casco " and below this inscription, the title and "N. 6", a pen ink erasure, and a piece of light blue paper glued on the lower left corner.

A wonderful piece to keep jealously!

The autograph note illustrates and describes the characthers of this modern original drawing: a big profile portrait of the most famous cancan dancer of the Moulin Rouge "Jane la Folle" o "La Mélinite", Jane Avril followed by a group portraits of some protagonists of the world of the "bohème artistique" in Paris, the Bulgarian painter Jules Pascin, the French writer and journalist with the glasses Chas Laborde, and the French writer of the "école fantaisiste" Francis Carco. Everybody wears elegant clothes and has a sophisticated air.

A wonderful piece to keep jealously!
