Giovanni Gentile (Castelvetrano, 1875 - Florence, 1944)

Italian philosopher, pedagogist, politician and academic, Giovanni Gentile, together with Benedetto Croce, was one of the greatest exponents of Italian philosophical neo-idealism and idealism, as well as an important protagonist of Italian culture in the first half of the twentieth century, co-founder of the Institute of Encyclopedia Italiana and, as minister, creator, in 1923, of the reform of public education known as the Gentile Reform. Unfortunately, he was also a leading figure of Italian fascism, even considered the inventor of the ideology of fascism.

Ugo Ojetti (Rome, 1871 - Fiesole, 1946) was an Italian writer, art critic, journalist and aphorist. In 1920 he founded his art magazine, Dedalo (Milan, 1920-1933), in which he deals with the history of ancient and modern art. Here intellectuals like Bernard Berenson, Matteo Marangoni, Piero Jahier, Antonio Maraini, Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, Pietro Toesca, Lionello Venturi and Roberto Longhi collaborate. Ojetti inaugurates a new magazine, Pegaso (Florence, 1929-1933), then the literary magazine Pan . Between 1926 and 1927 he was editor of Corriere della Sera . He is among the signatories of the Manifesto of Fascist intellectuals in 1925 and was appointed Academic of Italy in 1930. He was a member of the board of directors of the Italian Encyclopedia until 1933. Ojetti organizes numerous art exhibitions and gives life to important editorial initiatives.
