Cynthia Segato was born in Rome in 1958. She graduated in Astronomy and attended the Scuola Libera del Nudo of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
Alongside her painting activity, she deepened her interest in graphics by attending various engraving workshops including those at the Calcografia Nazionale.
In her works, Segato uses an imaginary and fairy-tale language, proposing figurative themes through a symbolism that includes the concepts of time and space. The interest and study of mathematical and astronomical sciences enter the atmospheres she represents, where cosmic objects, constellations, fantastic geometries and non-Euclidean spaces coexist with research on Platonic solids, the formation of matter and stellar dust. The interest in children's illustration brings her research closer to the interpretation of ancient nursery rhymes and the composition of new ones.
In the early 2000s, she began collaborating with the art gallery Edarcom Europa, which curates and hosts the most important solo exhibitions of recent years. For the editions of the Edarcom Europa gallery, she creates over twenty lithographs and engravings inspired above all by the themes of Giacomo Leopardi's poetry and the fairy tales of Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland. Cynthia Segato lives and works in Rome.
