The artwork is depicted skillfully through confident and strong strokes in a well-balanced composition with perfect hatching.  Denis Auguste Marie Raffet  (1804 – 1860) was a French old master who specialized in lithograph, inspired by his patriotism: he was the official illustrator of the Napoleonic campaigns, from Egypt to Waterloo.
