Will You Speak At The Room?

Will You Speak At The Room?  is an original artwork realized in the early XX century by  Luigi Bompard .

Watercolor and China-ink drawing.

The conversation that the artist imagines is taking place among the protagonists is hand-written on the artwork:

- E parlerete alla camera? - ( And will you talk to the room?)

- Ohibò! Ma io sono una persona seria!  (- Ohibò! But I'm a serious person!)

Hand-signed  on the lower center.  Good conditons, except for a fold in the center of the artwork and some very light foxings.  Includes passepartout: 49 x 34 cm.

Luigi Bompard  (1879-1953)

Born in Bologna in 1879 from a French father and an Italian mother, he lived between the capital of Emilia, Paris, Milan, and Rome. He has worked as an illustrator for numerous magazines such as: The Italian Illustration , Il Travaso delle Idee , Il Paese , L'Epoca , La Voce d'Italia , Il Giornale della Domenica , and L'illustration francaise . Also known for his pictorial works, Bompard was able to move within that Italian pictorial sensibility abroad created by Giovanni Boldini. Luigi Bompard's works have been exhibited at the Rome Academy of Costume and Fashion in 2004; we also remember the solo show at the Gian Ferrari Gallery in Milan in 1942 and the retrospective at the Floral Emporium, curated by Mario Quesada in 1983. Luigi Bompard died in Rome in 1953.
