L'Université  is a wonderful black and white xylograph on paper, realized in 1880 by the French artist  Charles Laplante  (Sévres, 1837 - Paris, 1903), after a drawing by  A. Deroy .

Original title:   L'Université, à la Nouvella-Orléans .

Signed  on plate on the sides. Title on plate, on the lower margin at the center.

With an incredible freshness of line, balance of lights and shadows, and meticulousness of sign, this original print represents the magnificent building of the university in New Orleans.

Mounted on a white cardboard passepartout, cm 24 x 30, and in excellent conditions, this beautiful modern artwork is an illustration for the  Le Tour du Monde  newspaper. Under the image and on the back, a part of an article of this newspaper.
