Le carnaval  is a wonderful black and white xilograph on paper, realized in 1880 by the French wooden engraver  Charles Laplante  (Sèvres, 1837 - Paris, 1903), after the French illustrator  Emile Bayard  (1837 - 1891).

Original title:   Le carnaval: Nous sommes des bandits!

Signed on plate on the sides.

With an incredible freshness of line and dynamism, this original print describes the vivacity of a carnival parade and the joy of the city in a street party.

Title on plate, on the lower margin at the center. The original print is mounted on a white cardboard passepartout, cm 40 x 30.

In very good conditions, this beautiful modern artwork has a light foxing visible on the left margin. On the back, a page from  Le Tour du Monde  newspaper.
