Letter from Arrigo Benedetti to Mino Maccari
Letter from Arrigo Benedetti to Mino Maccari , L.T.S. Fagnano, November 18, 1934. 1p. two-sided with adjustments and underlines, on letterhead (in the back) Gino Benedetti, Box 2, Lucca.
"The chubby debate". Interesting letter of a literary debate: how to deal with the news? How to find your own style? How to save yourself from rhetoric? When in 1932 Maccari transferred the "Selvaggio" headquarters to Rome, attending Caffè Aragno, he became friends with many men of culture who would become his associates: C. Brandi, B. Barilli, T. Scialoja, R. Guttuso, A. Trombadori. S. Volta, C. Mollino, G. Vicentini, V. Cardarelli and A. Benedetti.
This latter, fascinated by the “Maccarian” style, recognizable despite the pseudonyms, is looking for his own style without leaving out the guidelines of the "Wandering Mino".
" To your associates, you have never imposed a color that is not the tone of an Italian tradition, which everyone with different temperaments can hear (...) ". " The means to save themselves from rhetoric are all necessary, if you find them on your own. "
