Original editorial soft cover with dowel on front plate. Nice collection of original fine woodcuts, partially coloured, by the Japanese illustrator Hiroshige Ando, including illustrations of Japanese theatrical masks, ceremonial dresses, floral decorations, combs, pots, turtles and other subjects. The book was designed and realized in the first half of 19° century. Good conditions inside, except for the 2 missing pages.
Along with Hokusai, Hiroshige Ando (better known as Utagawa Hiroshige) is considered as the dominant figure of printmaking in the first half of the nineteenth century. He deeply influenced some of the most important western printmakers of the end of 19° century, such as Toulouse-Lautrec.
