Mario Tozzi (Frossombrone, 1895, Saint-Jean-du-Gard, 1979)
In 1926, the Italian painter, Mario Tozzi found again Licini in Paris and came into contact with the Italian avant-garde painters. He founded the "Groupe des Sept " (known as Les Italiens de Paris ) with Campigli, De Pisis, Paresce, De Chirico, Savinio and Severini, a group that quickly acquired international fame. He attended the Caffè in Montparnasse and became friends with Zadkine, Giacometti, Gonzales, Fini and Magnelli. Meet Ozenfant, Lurcat, Max Jacob.
In 1935, at the time of this letter, Tozzi lived a growing critical succes and continued his intense artistic activity; his artworks were bought by the museums of Grenoble, Paris, Rome, Athens, Berlin, Bern, Budapest, Geneva, Lyon, Mannheim, Moscow, San Paolo. He was awarded with the " Legion of Honor" by the French government. In 1936 he moved to Rome, where he devoted himself to the fresco technique.
