Joan Mirò was born in Barcelona in 1893, Joan Miró was a Spanish painter, engraver, sculptor and a member of the Surrealist movement. Certainly one of the most dynamic and polyvalent figures on the 20th Century arts scene, Miró went through various
creative phases but was always guided by the “instinctive strength of gestures”. Engraving was an important part of Miró’s artistic opus and he always considered graphics as a universe governed by its own laws, on equal footing with painting and sculpture.
