Dies Irae
This painting was executed over several years, at a rather turbulent period in my life (hence the title, meaning "the Day of Wrath" in Latin) . It is the first painting in a series of large format paintings, done with the Intra-Materia techniques during this troubled period.
Initially, this work was larger. Not being satisfied with the result at the end of the painting session, I then abandoned it, as I often do, letting a smarter version of myself taking care of it in some hypothetical future.
Years later I came back to it and, after rediscovering it with a fresh eye, I cut it up to retain what I thought was the best part, turned it over, then completed it to give it its final look.
