With the Intra-Materia painting technique, at first we lay down the colors and make them gently move on there own.
As they slowly blend together in subtle nuances, we seek out those little accidents we call “singularities,” which will trigger our brain tendency to pareidolia.
We call this step of the process where the colors turn together prior to any singularity appearance, the « Maelstrom ».
It happens sometimes that the Maelstrom turns out to be just beautiful as it is, without particular singularity in it.
This is what happened with this one. The whole Maelstrom became the singularity in a way.
That’s why it is entitled with the name of a famous maelstrom of Scotland.
