Tha First Man
Oil painting of lying man looking for his reflection in the water.
Oil painting of lying man looking for his reflection in the water. Realized by Marco Fariello in 2024.
This painting is inspired by the myth of the fall of man narrated in the Corpus Hermeticum by Hermes Trismegistus. According to the myth, man is a divine creature to whom the father has entrusted all his works. However, he ends up falling into the waters of the material world, attracted by his own reflection with which he subsequently falls in love. This fall leads man to forget himself, to mortality, and to submission to the laws of the corrupted world. I wanted to depict man in the moment before the fall, to highlight that instant when we were still divine, before we forgot our true essence. With this painting, I wish for you to rediscover your divine essence and live each day with the awareness of your innate divinity.
