André Masson (1896-1987) was a French painter, whose style was influenced by Cubism and Surrealism . After traveling in Germany and in Holland, in 1937 he joined the Surrealist group. In 1942, he moved to the USA, where he contributed to the avant-gardist young American painting. In 1947, he moved back to France. His painting technique is strange and subtle, with ambiguous forms and colourful linear rhythms.
