Heads

Heads is an original color etching and carborundum on paper, realized around 1970s by the Spanish artist Antoni Clavé   (1913 – 2005).

Hand-signed  in pencil o lower right corner and numbered  in Arabic numerals and in pencil by artist on lower left margin. 

From an edition of 75 prints.

In very good conditions, except for some signs of aging an a light foxing on the lower margin. This defect does not affect the image.

Antoni Clavé (Barcelona, 1913 – St. Tropez, 2005)

Antoni Clavé was a Catalan master painter, printmaker, sculptor, stage designer and costume designer. Nominated for two Academy Awards as Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design for his work for a Andersen's movie in 1952.

One of Spain's best known and most celebrated artists, he changed his style, evolving from baroque, ornamental style to a minimal aesthetic. He is best known for his lyrical abstractions, artworks combing paint with collage.

His artworks are preserved at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, National Museum of Serbia, Museo Patio Herreriano de Valladolid in Spain Museo Patio Herresriano, Tate Gallery, London, Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, Museum of Modern Art, Paris, Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia Museo Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo and The British Museum, London.
