Vautour pape
Vautour pape is a beautiful original charcoal drawing on ivory-colored paper, realized by the French artist and illustrator Ray Lambert (1889-1976).
From behind, with its powerful spread wings and its characteristic beak, the vautour pape is portrayed with a very fresh and fluid line, hint of a talented hand.

The title is hand-written in pencil on the higher right margin, the signature is printed with a black-ink stamp under the image on the lower left.
In excellent conditions, except for two ring holes on the higher margin and some pencil stains on the edges, this modern artwork has preserved all its beauty.
The subject of this original drawing is the royal vulture, also known as Sarcoramphus papa, a great bird of Central and South America. This bird lives mainly in the lowland tropical forests that extend from southern Mexico to northern Argentina, although some think that the "painted vulture" described by William Bartram in Florida belongs to this species.
