This is a rare photo of the very young singer Maria Callas portrayed in Mexico with a typical Frida Kalho hairstyle.
Maria Callas (New York, 1923 - Paris, 1977), the American soprano of Greek origins, naturalized Italian, was born with a particular voice: a unique tone of considerable volume, great extension and agility. Maria Callas contributed to the rediscovery of the Italian repertoire of the first half of the nineteenth century, called " belcanto renaissance ", i.e. Vincenzo Bellini and Gaetano Donizetti, of whom she was able to offer a personal reading in a dramatic key. Her artistic success together with her frequent presence in the mass media contributed to build a real myth around her, fomenting the figure of " the Divine ".
