Seated Figure
Seated Figure is a drawing, presumably the study of another original artwork, realized by Aimé Millet , a renowned French sculptor.
The artwork is in good conditions of preservation, the paper is slightly dirty and stained and it is glued on a darker piece of paper of larger dimensions (20.3 x 24.5 cm).
The drawing is overall very pleasant, classic in the composition but modern in the dynamic and confident strokes.

The figure, seated towards right, with the elbow bent on the knee and the chin leaning on the hand, recalls a figure of Michelangelo or a Classical statue.
Aimé Millet was the son of the miniaturist Frederick Millet. He studied at the École des Beaux Arts. In 1849, he started his artistic career and in 1859 he received the Légion d'Honneur . In 1870, he was nominated professor at the École des Arts Décoratifs of Paris and taught some of the most important Impressionist artists.
