Schoolgirls
Schoolgirls is a beautiful watercolored ink drawing of the first half of the 20 th century, around 1940.
The drawing shows an inscription in pencil on the lower right that is hard to decipher. It is probably the signature and the title in French, though unreadable.
The state of preservation is somewhat good: the paper has some longitudinal folds and presents numerous pinholes on the four corners and on the higher and lower margins. The higher right and left corners are torn, though in a minimal part. The piece of paper was probably torn from a sketchbook, because its left margin presents some fringes. The paper is glued on the corners on a piece of blue paper of almost same dimensions.
This is a very interesting drawing, representing a series of young girls seated at some desks and whilst attending a class. Very graceful portraits with spontaneous facial expressions that recall a drawing from real life.
