Gabriele Galantara  (1867-1937), journalist and one of the major Italian caricaturists and satirical designers. The Donkey was a  political satire magazine  in 1892, the year of the first Giolitti ministry and the establishment of the Italian Socialist Party, The magazine was conceived by Guido Podrecca,and by Gabriele Galantara,  brilliant cartoonist and puppeteer , also a socialist. The two assumed the pseudonyms of "Goliardo" (Podrecca) and "Rata Langa" (Galantara), and with these nicknames, they signed the issues of the weekly.

The artwork with a gazing man on a walking dog is strongly expressed through confident strokes in a satiric manner in a well-balance composition, a study for the  "l'asino"  Italian magazine.
