Raoul Dufy

Raoul Dufy (La Havre, 1877 – Forcalquier, 1953) was a French painter, deigner, and artist.
He was noticed for his decorative scenes of pleasure and fun. In 1900, he moved to Paris to attend the Academy of Fine Arts; the style of his first artworks was Impressionist, but, after some experimentations, his style became similar to the Fauves' painting style. His artworks are characterized by great energy and by an intense brilliance of brushstrokes. During 1908 and 1909, he worked in a Cubist-influenced style with Georges Braque and Émile-Othon Friesz, but he soon went back to his first approach, more similar to that of Fauvist works. In the early 1920s, Dufy dedicated himself to painting and began producing what are now his most famous works.
