Kan o Mitsuo (Tokyo, 1933) is a Japanese engraver and illustrator of the twentieth century. He did not receive any artistic training, but, at a very young age, he was interested in poetry, and particularly in French poetry, such as Lautréamont, Rimbaud and Sade. Working as an assistant to a botanist, he was fascinated by the study of micro-biomorphology and micro-organisms. His talent was detected by the surrealist poet Shuzo Takiguchi. He participated in numerous international collective exhibitions.
