Georges Arnulf (1921-1996) was born in Monaco, won the Grand Prix de Rome for engraving in 1950, and illustrated the Mouton label the same year. Arnulf’s interest in pre-Columbian art took him to South America from 1957 to 1966, working in stained glass and fresco painting. Back in France, he taught drawing, his work becoming more florid and elaborate, combining human figures with plants, rocks and animals, all caught in vigorous movement.
