Honoré Broutelle  Born 16 April 1866, in Nantes; died 19 January 1929, in Bois-Colombes. Engraver illustrator, painter (gouache), watercolorist, pastellist. Honoré Broutelle's first career as a doctor, from 1902 to 1914, was cut short because of his own ill health. This coincided with the time that Bracquemond was demanding the right to make original wood engravings, which until that time had been principally a domain for copying. Broutelle, who had always written poetry, drawn, and painted in gouache for pleasure, now turned to this technique which was enjoying a revival
