Mino Rosi, painter, engraver, mosaic master and glassmaker, was born in Volterra on 9 June 1913. After his curricular studies, in 1933 he met Ardengo Soffici in Poggio a Caiano and elected him as an intellectual model and an ideal teacher. The first solo show dates back to 1932. In 1934 Rosi participated with groups of works at the Venice Biennale, receiving flattering critical acclaim. He was repeatedly invited to the Rome Quadriennale, also with personal rooms, for the first time in 1939, on the recommendation of Arturo Martini. His activity as a cultural animator was also intense. He was editor-in-chief of the magazine "Il Campano" of the Pisan fascist university groups, published in Pisa between 1926 and 1944, and he founded and directed, in 1946, the magazine "Paesaggio". He founded in the early 1960s and directed the State Institute of Art. In 1985 a large anthology of his work was ordered in Volterra. He died in Siena on May 17, 1995.
