Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) was an American painter and sculptor. He studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. He was a member of the French group Abstraction-Création. In 1935, he adhered to the movement of the Italian Abstractionists in Turin. In 1946, he moved to Buenos Aires and developed the Manifesto Blanco , which marked the beginning of his “spatial” experiences; the following year, in Milan, he signed the first manifesto of the spatial movement . In 1958, the first cuts on canvas appeared. In 1966, he won the international Gran Premio for painting at the Venice Biennial.
