Leo Longanesi, born Leopoldo Longanesi (1905 - 1957), was an Italian journalist, writer, publisher, painter, draftsman, caricaturist and aphorist. He tried his hand at the art of writing, graphics, typography, illustration, caricature drawing and painting, always leaving an original and counter-current imprint. He was founder and editor of various magazines such as L'Italiano (1926), Omnibus (1937) and Il Borghese (1950). A popular and sophisticated character, he was able to blend a taste for tradition with an unconventional intellectual attitude. Great talent scout, he was the maître à penser of an entire generation of writers and journalists.
