Philippe Soupault was born in 1897 and died in 1990. He was a French writer and poet, but also a political activist. He was one of the founding figure with André Breton of the Surrealist movement, and was active in Dadaism. He worked with Louis Aragon in Paris, and launched with him the periodical Littérature.
