Chariot
Chariot is a wonderful original watercolor on paper, realized in the XIX century by an anonymous artist whose signature seems to be Melifen ( hand-written in pencil on the lower right corner).
The drawing is glued on a brown paper (22.5 x 28.5 cm). The latter shows tears at the edges.
The artwork is in good conditions except for the wavy paper, foxing, and little tears.
Original title on the lower center: Barrozza Costumi di Roma .
The scene represents the barrozza , an animal-drawn chariot characteristic of the Roman countryside of the XIX century. The oxen that pulls it carries an effigy with the Virgin Mary.
