Celestial Music
Celestial Music is an original black and white etching on cream-colored paper, realized by Charles-Nicolas Cochin the Elder (1688-1754), the well-known engraver of artworks by Chardin, Watteau, Nicolas Lancret, and active for the Cabinet du Roi.
With inscriptions concerning the author on plate, on the lower margin under the engraved image, " C. N. C. Sc. ".
In very good conditions, except for light foxing on the margins, some minor stains on the margins, and a little fold of the paper on the higher right corner of the sheet.

A superb original print representing an angel playing the violin surrounded by little angels on clouds in the sky. The angel is playing amazing celestial music. With strong blacks and a delicate hatching, this is an artwork by a French old master that demonstrates the full mastery of the technique.
