An odd misty light, perhaps a metaphor for her spirit, wins the darkness of the sky and propagates through the city below.

This photograph represents a young woman lying down on the snow. She is the Italian poetess Antonia Pozzi (Milan, 1912 - 1938), who committed suicide at the age of 26. Antonia had a delicate spirit and felt oppressed by the suffocating and bigot environment of 1920s Italy. She left poems and photographs, together with an unforgettable farewell letter, in which she declared her "mortal despare".
