Harold Miller Null, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in 1916 was an American photographer who spent much of his life based in Italy.
In the years of his youth he undertook medical studies, which were later interrupted, and traveled extensively both in his country and abroad. In 1955 he left the service and followed a program of classical studies in Rome. In Italy he became acquainted with the work of the painter and engraver Giorgio Morandi, and this exerted a profound influence on his subsequent photographic work. Null's photographs have been used to illustrate books and have appeared in many magazines. His works are present in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan in New York, in the art museums of Philadelphia and Cleveland and have been purchased by numerous private collectors.
