John Isaacs (Lancaster, 1968) is an eclectic artist who, after his beginnings close to the irreverent language of the Young British Artists, has consistently developed an interest in poetry and the evocative power of the object, almost always created or recreated through different techniques sculptural.
In more than twenty years of activity he has used different expressive techniques, painting, sculpture, collage, photography, and different types of materials: fabric, wax, bronze, neon and ceramic. From his scientific training he maintains a particular sensitivity for the exploration and understanding of the mysteries of human nature. Its variation from one element to another is linked to an incessant search in the unknown world of nature, exploring the complex themes that are linked to the unknowns of destiny, the paradoxes of existence, the difficulties of modern life. The often grotesque, fascinating and technically perfect sculptures are a criticism of our society, with its excesses and waste, consumerism, pollution. Among his best-known works is “The architecture of empathy”, a large sculpture in Carrara marble created in 2013 which reproduces the shapes of Michelangelo's “Pietà” in a perfectly recognizable way, but covered and hidden by a marble drapery.
