THE CALF (IL VITELLO) Silver Sculpture
A sculptor of animals, Sirio Tofanari (Florence 1886 – Milan 1969) is not inclined to the school discipline, he decides to learn and train as self-taught by travelling around Europe First in Paris, then in London, where he spends time observing animals at the zoo and studying their anatomy at the Natural History Museum to be able to represent them in the most realistic possible way.
His is a delicate and patient work almost as a goldsmith, first on wax to be entrusted to the smelter then on bronze to be chiseled and patinated. He will exhibit his works both in Italy and abroad.
Among his most famous works the "Fountain of the Crocodiles" (1926) today in Montecatini Terme of which he is a symbol.
The sculpture here proposed (THA CALF), completely in silver, returns the image of a calf with delicate and elegant lines.
