Rebecca and Isaac is a biblical topic, their story is told on Genesis. Abraham seeks a wife for his son Isaac and  entrusts this task to his servant Eliezer. He meets the beautiful Rebecca in the city of Arran and persuades her to marry Isaac.

From the union of the two, Esaù and Jacob will be born, immediately in conflict with each other. Esau will sell his offspring for lentil soup and Jacob will become the forefather. In the Talmud, Rebecca is considered the progenitor of the Jewish people, through

Jacob, and of the Roman people, through Esau.
