Self-Portrait is an Etching realized by Edouard Dufeu (1840-1900).

Proof artist, good condition, included a white cardboard passpartout (49x35 cm).

Signed and dated on the upper left corner.

Edouard Jacques Dufeu, was born in Marseilles on March 27 , 1836, and died in Grasse on December 1 , 1900, is a French painter and engraver. Coming from a family originally from Egypt , Dufeu moved to Paris in 1860 and frequented the studio of Charles Gleyre . Between 1861 and 1865, he attended the Société des aquafortistes and bonded with its members. He engraved his first etching in 1862, Rue du Caire , published by Alfred Cadart and Luquet, also publishers of his series of engravings, Views of Egypt (1865) .A pupil of Antoine Vollon , he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1865 to 1890. He taught drawing in various municipal schools in Paris and then provided drawings for various newspapers. His production alternates between landscapes and still lifes. he ended his life in Grasse, sometimes faced with the most cruel necessities, leaving a large number of paintings, watercolors and drawings in his studio.
