Breton Peasant is an Original woodcut print realized by Paul Emile Colin (1867-1949).

Good condition on a little paper, included a cream colored cardboard passpartout (30x24 cm).

No signature.

Paul-Émile Colin born onAugust 16, 1867 in Lunéville ( Meurthe ) and died onOctober 28, 1949 in Bourg-la-Reine ( Hauts-de-Seine ) is a French engraver and painter . Colin was one of the founding members of the Society of Original Wood Engravings (SGBO) in 1911. He was its vice-president from 1920 to 1935. Noël Clément-Janin established the directory of his engravings in 1912 and Jules Rais a monograph provided in 1913 for the Journal of Modern Graphic Arts . After the First World War , Colin continued his engraved work as an illustrator and devoted himself more to painting. From 1920, he traveled to Italy, Sicily, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. These visits are the source of inspiration for his new approach to color.
