The work has been realized by Carlo Lorenzetti (Venice, 1858 - Venice, 1945) an Italian sculptor and artist. After receiving an initial education at a charity school, he was started as a sculptor, learning how to work with wood. In 1878, he joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, becoming a pupil of Luigi Ferrari and Antonio Dal Zotto. After leaving the Academy, he engaged in the activity of sculptor. Skilled portraitist and technically gifted, Lorenzetti painted various portraits of politicians, intellectuals, artists with whom he was in contact, often on commission from the municipality of Venice. Carlo Lorenzetti played a leading role in the institution of the Venice International Art Exhibition, founded in 1893 by the mayor of Venice Riccardo Selvatico, and exhibited his works in various editions, until the late 1920s. Always very close to his hometown, he created various works inspired by facts of the history of Venice and its characters.
