Blue Composition

Blue Composition  is an original abstract artwork realized by  Marcello Grottesi  in 1977.

Oil on canvas. 

Hand-signed and dated in light-blue color on the back.

The artwork has been exhibited on the occasion of the exhibition  Vedo il blu, il blu nell'arte contemporanea , at Galleria Editalia, Rome 2005.

This superb artwork demonstrates a great mastery of the range of blue and light-blue tones.

Marcello Grottesi (Rome, 1939-2020)  was an Italian painter and filmmaker. He was one of the protagonists of the Laboratory of the 1970's, then Gruppo di via Brunetti, together with Paolo Matteucci and Gianfranco Notargiacomo. The three were the authors of the first "gestures of art", provocative artistic performances that brought art to the squares of the historic center of Rome, with the purpose to break with the past and to project the city into a more modern context.
