Very beautiful tempera on paper representing a view on a lake with a boat. The use of the color is very smart; the horizon is realized with very light shades of grey. The composition is very well-balanced and the contrasts are very soft.
Robert Naly (Geneva, 1900 - Paris, 1984) was a Swiss artist who worked in France as landscape painter, decorator, and illustrator. In 1927, he moved to Montmartre in Paris to work as decorator. He died in 1984 in his atelier due to a fire. In 1932, he exhibited in Paris at the Salon d'Automne.
