In this print, the artist combined free creativity with rigorous geometry. Indeed, chaotic abstract forms dance confined inside two rectangles with thick contour lines in the middle of the composition.
Carla Accardi (1924 – 2014) was an Italian painter. She was among the most important exponents of Italian Abstractionism and among the founders of the Forma group. She studied in Palermo, Rome, and Paris. She participated in the Venice Biennial in 1993. Her artistic research focused on abstract art and in her latest works she used transparent plastic.
