Chest of Drawers / Commode attr. to Vittorio Dassi, Italy 1950s

A refined and sculptural mid-century Italian chest of drawers, attributed to Vittorio Dassi, embodying the sophisticated craftsmanship and distinctive design language of post-war Italian furniture.

The piece is executed in a warm-toned wood veneer, beautifully grained and softly patinated, with a gently curved silhouette that defines both sides. The subtly flared and rounded uprights frame the case, lending a sense of movement and elegance characteristic of Dassi’s work.

The façade comprises three spacious drawers, each fitted with striking lucite (acrylic) handles with brass mounts, a hallmark detail of Italian design from the period. The upper section features a pair of lockable drawers, adding both visual rhythm and functional refinement. The drawers open to reveal finely crafted interiors, demonstrating quality joinery and attention to detail.

Raised on tapered legs terminating in brass sabots, the commode achieves a light, elevated presence while maintaining a solid architectural form.
