Born in Turin in 1942, in his early twenties Pietro Gilardi held his first solo exhibition entitled "Macchine del Futuro" and only after two years he began to produce his first works in polyurethane foam. From 1968 he interrupted the production of works to participate in the technical elaboration of the new artistic trends of the late 1960s while in 1969, he began a long transcultural experience directed towards the theoretical analysis and practice of the conjunction 'Art Life'.

Born in Turin in 1942, in his early twenties Pietro Gilardi held his first solo exhibition entitled "Macchine del Futuro" and only after two years he began to produce his first works in polyurethane foam, exhibiting in Paris, Brussels, Cologne, Hamburg, Amsterdam and New York. From 1968 he interrupted the production of works to participate in the technical elaboration of the new artistic trends of the late 1960s: Arte Povera, Land Art, Antiform Art. In 1969, he began a long transcultural experience directed towards the theoretical analysis and practice of the conjunction 'Art Life'. After an experience as a political activist and animator of youth culture, he resumed his artistic activity in 1981 by exhibiting installations in galleries accompanied by creative workshops with the public.
