Salvatore Provino (Bagheria, 1943) is an Italian painter. He moved to Rome where he attended the studio of Renato Guttuso. In 1964, Galleria Consorti of Rome organized his first personal exhibition that recalled the places of his childhood. The birthplace, the faces of the peasants carved by the wrinkles of time and hard work, the countryside with the colors of drama and tragedy that refers to ancient Greek culture, profoundly influenced his artistic education. At the end of the 60s, his painting approached the English sensitivity in particular of Francis Bacon. Since the 1990s, personal exhibitions have taken place in important national public spaces alternated with prestigious international exhibitions: Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and Castel dell'Ovo in Naples.
