Andrè Breton

(Tinchebray,France,1896 – Paris,France,1966) André Breton was a French writer, poet, and anti-fascist. He is known best as the founder of Surrealism. There are two Surrealist Manifestos in 1924 and 1929 which were both written by André Breton, he defined surrealism as "pure psychic automatism". Nine previously unpublished manuscripts, including the Manifeste du surréalisme, were auctioned by Sotheby's in May 2008.
