"Merits and Honours": Autograph Letter by M. Jacob

L.A.S. (Lettre Autograph Signée) Autograph Letter Signed by M. Jacob , addressed to the Countess A. L. Pecci-Blunt. Paris, 55th Nollet Street, 15th July 1933 . On page, two-sided (27 x 21 cm) on watermark paper “Paper made in Docelles ”. In French . Including Envelope (11.1 x 14.5 cm).  Excellent condition except usual folds of paper and a very little rip in the low right edge.

Exactly two days after his Légion d’Honneur Cavaliere nomination – 13th July 1933 released by the National Education Minister, Anatole de Monzie, a friend of Marc Sangnier’s, from the will of André Salmon – Max Jacob wrote this interesting and amusing letter to his friend the Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt. Commenting on the article published on an official journal talking about his nomination, the Surrealist poet portraits the French cultural landscape of Thirty’ s, crowded by big names as Picabia, Elizabeth de Gramont, Jehan Rictus, Jules Supervelle, George Waldemar, Darius Milhaud.
