Leviathan, like most paintings in the Dies Irae series, was created over several years. Started in a place that did not lend itself to painting, I was able to complete it a few years later, when I had moved to a home more conducive to painting.

The Dies iræ (“Day of wrath” in Latin), also called Prose of the Dead, is a sung medieval liturgical poem, with apocalyptic inspiration.

In the Intra-Materia, visions are often eschatological. Yet, "the apocalypse" is to be taken in its sense of "revelation". Finally, if there must be destruction, it is above all that of fear and ignorance.
