Yakushae

Yakushae is an original modern artwork realized by Utagawa Kunisada in the 1840s.

Woodcut print chuban format. Signature: Kochoro Kunisada ga. Publisher: Sanoya Kihei. Censored by Kiwame. Excellent impression, slightly soiled, few stains and wormholes.

From the series "Mitate Yakusha gojusan tsui no uchi" (Actors in front of the 53 Tokaido stations), Mishima station and the Ichinomiya temple.

Full-length figure of actor Ichikawa Danzo V as Kudo Suketsune and murderer of the brothers' father. Suketsune wears the typical exaggerated aragoto costume, with voluminous sleeves.
