Ibrahim Kodra

Ibrahim Kodra (Ishëm, 1918 - Milan, 2006) was an Albanian painter, active in Italy in Milan. He is considered one of the few Albanian painters to have achieved success and international recognition. Formed initially in Albania, where he attended the American Vocational School and won the Tirana Award, he moved to Milan in 1938 thanks to a scholarship made available by the Queen of Albania Géraldine; he enrolled in the Brera Academy, where he had Carlo Carrà, Aldo Carpi, and Achille Funi as masters and won the Hayez Prize. After a long career in Milan, he died in 2006 and was buried in his native country.
